On May 19th, the inaugural meeting of the India Alumni Association of Xiamen University and the awarding ceremony of the flag was successfully held in New Delhi. Sun Meixing, the head of the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy in India, Zhu Chongshi, the former president of Xiamen University and chairman of the General Alumni Association, Zeng Guobin, the secretary general of the General Alumni Association, Zhang Jian’an, the secretary of the Party Committee of the Medical College, and Li Wei, the vice president of the School of Medicine, and more than 60 Xiamen University alumni and some of their family members from all over India attended the event.

Ketan Anant, the chairman of the Indian Alumni Association and the MBBS professional alumni of the medical school, first introduced the basic situation of the alumni association to the participants. He said that in the future, the Indian alumni association will be strengthened with the alma mater and related colleges to provide a broad communication link between the alumni and the alma mater.

Chen Xuan, the president of the Alumni Association of India, and alumni of economics, shared his insights on the work of the Indian Alumni Association. He said that in the future, he will seriously perform his duties and do his best to provide first-class services for alumni, and make progress together with the alumni.

Subsequently, Zhu Chongshi awarded Ketan Anant and Chen Xuan the director's card and president's card respectively. Sun Meixing and Zeng Guobin issued the flag to the Indian Alumni Association. Zhang Jian'an and Li Wei issued letters of appointment to the first council members of the Indian Alumni Association.

Entrusted by Luo Zhaohui, Chinese ambassador to India, Sun Meixing and Zheng Yu from embassy made a special trip to attend the inaugural meeting of the Xiamen University Alumni Association. Ms. Sun conveyed the embassy’s warm congratulations to the event and cordial greetings to the alumni of Xiamen University. She said that the Embassy attaches great importance to the establishment of the Indian Alumni Association of Xiamen University. It is hoped that after the establishment of the Alumni Association, it will build another broad and solid bridge for Sino-Indian exchanges, give full play to the positive role and important strength of Xiamen University alumni.

In his speech, Zhu Chongshi thanked Ambassador Luo Zhaohui and the embassy and the community for their strong support to the establishment of the Indian Alumni Association of our school. He said that the establishment of the Alumni Association provided an eternal spiritual home for the alumni of India. It is hoped that the council headed by Ketan Anant and Chen Yu will closely unite the alumni, strive to enhance the cohesiveness and centripetal force of the alumni, improve the level of service alumni, and build a warm and happy future.

During the event, Zhu Chongshi and his party also made a special trip to Apollo Hospital to visit the Xiamen University medical alumni who worked here. The relevant person in charge of the Xiamen University Medical College also conducted in-depth exchanges with the heads of Apollo Hospital on topics such as internship cooperation, scientific research, and resource sharing.
